Featured Book: THE AMERICAN WAY

I LOVE this series.
The year is 1961. The Cold War is at its peak. Super-powered individuals do exist.
The U.S. government sponsors a super-powered team to both inspire Americans and defend the United States in the event of a Soviet super-powered attack. The Civil Defense Corps (CDC) defends citizens and the American way of life time and again from super-villains and alien invasions.
But the Kennedy administration has a secret.
The Civil Defense Corps, and the villains they fight, are actors employed by the federal government. Most (though not all) of the team have superpowers, but they were gained through genetic experimentation and enhanced with technology.
This comic addresses the ethics of a government lying to its people "for their own good"; the Civil Rights movement (is the American public ready for a black super-hero?!); and other fascinating aspects of super-herodom you don't normally think about. This is definitely a thinking man's super-hero comic book.
The first 5 issues are out (and Fantom Comics has all of them).
