How do I start placing orders?
|
| 1. |
Each month, look for the “Previews Catalog” banner at the top left of the Comixology window and click on that link.
| a |
NOTE: If you join our Email List, you will receive a reminder email once a month with highlights and a link to comiXology’s Previews page. You can also pick up a hard copy of the Previews Catalog at Fantom Comics Union Station, or subscribe to Previews on Comixology if you want us to either hold it for you in the store or send it to you by mail with your other books. |
|
| 2 |
We’ve found the best way to study the online catalog is to use the “Browse” box on the right side of the Previews Catalog screen. |
|
| a |
First, make sure the View By selection is set to “Image” – This gives you a 4 x 5 grid of the covers for books being solicited. |
| b |
Then, filter down the list by clicking the View Only drop down box. This allows you to browse category by category, and makes browsing much easier. Plus, you can focus on product categories that you are most interested in. If you are a fan of our graphic novels and trade paperbacks, make sure you view both those categories as well as “Hard Cover”, “Soft Cover”, and “Digest”. If you tend to focus on our new comics, be sure to look at “Comic”, “Annual”, “Limited Series”, “One-Shot” and “Special”. |
| c |
When you see a book that you like, simply click on it, and in the detail view you can select either “Pull” (if you want to check out that one issue) or “Subscribe” if you want to sign up to guarantee your receiving the subsequent issues in a series. When the button changes to either “Pulled” or “Subscribed”, just click your browser’s Back button and continue on through the catalog. |
| d |
When you opt to “Subscribe” to a comic book series, the default setting is for the monthly issues of that series. If you hit the Edit button in the Subscriptions page, you’ll have the option to request: |
|
| i |
Trade Paperbacks of that title as well as the series |
| ii |
Just the Trade Paperbacks (by clicking that option and un-clicking the comic option) |
| iii |
2nd Printings when on offer |
| iv |
Variants (note that variants can never be guaranteed) |
|

What’s the deal with tie-ins, mini-series, annuals, one-shots and subsequent series?
In the past, Fantom has strived to predict books our customers would want and supply them just in case. With comiXology allowing you to take control of your orders, Fantom Comics now takes your requests very literally! If you subscribe to Klokel Komix, but not to the 4-part miniseries Klokel Komix does Disneyland, Fantom will not make the connection unless you yourself subscribe to the miniseries through comiXology. comiXology is trying to make this as easy as possible. Currently, you can request all annuals and mini-series (when they exist) for ongoing titles. Hopefully they will also have a Crossover option as well for big events (like Civil War or Blackest Night). Until then, the responsibility to sign up falls on you. Fantom will do its best, however, to send out lists of upcoming Tie-Ins and Crossovers to its email list. |
